It seems like every year at the start of NFL training camps there are at least a few big name players who decide to hold out as they await a better contract. Last year we saw Aaron Donald sit out the entire offseason before signing a extension on August 31st, while Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell decided to hold out the entire year.
Those are two pretty big names right there, but it’s nothing compared to what we’re seeing in the summer of 2019.
With all 32 NFL teams officially kicking off their training camps this week, there are currently five (yes, FIVE!) Pro Bowl talents that are still awaiting contracts.
Adam Schefter dropped a list of them on Thursday:
That’s quite the list right there. Some guys, like Williams and Michael Thomas, are expected to report at some point, while someone like Melvin Gordon is expected to be preparing for an extended absence.
One thing’s for sure: the Cowboys, Saints, Chargers, Jaguars and Redskins would all like to see this list trimmed down by at least one name within the next few weeks.
