There is reportedly a “deadline” on the seemingly inevitable Aaron Rodgers trade to the New York Jets.
Speaking on “NFL Live”, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed that next Friday “is the soft deadline” for a Rodgers trade. That will mark day two of the 2023 NFL draft in Kansas City, which commences on Thursday and runs through Saturday.
Schefter’s comments on the “soft deadline” starts around 2:30 in this video:
Last month, Rodgers announced in an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” that his intention is to play for the Jets in 2023. The longtime Green Bay Packers’ quarterback added that the two teams just had to work out trade compensation.
Here we are in the third week of April, however, and Rodgers is still a member of the Packers. With early round selections sure to be part of the return in a potential Rodgers trade, the clock is ticking on both sides to finalize this deal.

The Jets hold the No. 13 selection in round one plus back-to-back selections in round two (No. 42 and No. 43 overall). The latter selection came via the Cleveland Browns in the trade for wideout Elijah Moore.
The two sides apparently have a week now to finalize a trade for the four-time league MVP. Stay tuned.
