The Chicago Bears should be happy that the Houston Texans fought hard to win their final game of the 2022 season, because they are in a position to be set up great for years to come as a result.
Speculation about what the Chicago Bears will do with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft was supposed to fade during Super Bowl week, but it has only gotten the conversation stronger as the draft draws near.
According to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Bears have ownership of a “lottery ticket” and can “cash it in” if they wish to.
“I can just tell you right now, that the Bears are going to have the opportunity to listen to some unbelievable offers for the No. 1 pick,” Schefter said on ESPN 1000’s Waddle & Silvy. “And they’re gonna have the chance to parlay that one pick – that came as a benefit from the Houston Texans, playing a game that they never should have won – into a bevy of future picks that can set up that franchise for years to come.”
The Colts as well as the Texans are rumored to want that pick in the worst way and are likely to drop a substantial package to get it so they can net the QB they want to change their franchise around for years to come.
The Colts might be more desperate as they still look to find a QB to replace Andrew Luck who suddenly retired on them years ago. It won’t come easy as the Texans are looking to replace Deshaun Watson after trading him to the Browns last offseason.
