Ja Morant has received some advice from someone who’s possibly in the best position to offer him given his own troubled professional career.
The Memphis Grizzlies star is in trouble with the NBA again after appearing in yet another social media video flashing a gun. And he’s now awaiting the league’s punishment following a suspension from his team.
Morant served an eight-game suspension for his first infraction back in March, and he is expected to be hit with a significantly stiffer penalty this time around given that he’s a repeat offender. The point guard has already foregone a $39 million incentive as the suspension left him off the All-NBA First Team this season and he could lose more money if sponsors such as Nike and Powerade decide to sever ties.
Former NFL player Adam “Pacman” Jones, has hit Ja with some sage wisdom amid the controversy.
“I’ve been down this road. If I could just have a one-on-one conversation with him, the first thing I would tell him is get rid of everybody that’s riding in your car,” Jones said on the Pat McAfee Show this week.

Jones, a former cornerback, has been arrested more times than anybody else in NFL history and spent over an entire season out back in 2007/08 due to suspension.
“I am not shooting at you. I am just talking to you as a big brother,” he added. That’s not a crime to have a gun. You have the right to have a gun.
“But a wise man told me, ‘Hey, man! If you ever want to be successful (…) you gotta stop doing sh*t and put you a** out on the streets.
“Kids are looking up to you. At a certain point in time, you gotta figure out what you wanna do. If you’re scared for your safety, go get yourself a f**king security guard.”
It will be interesting to see how which way the NBA goes this time around. But Commissioner Adam Silver has implied that the measures could be drastic.
