Less than five minutes into Aaron Rodgers’ first game with the New York Jets to begin the 2023 season, before he even threw for a completion, he left the game with an injury. The cart had to come get him from the medical tent and take him back to the locker room.
His season was over as he tore his Achilles.
Rodgers played just four snaps in 2023.
Despite that, Rodgers has been voted the winner of this year’s Dennis Byrd Award. The award is presented to the most “inspirational player” on the Jets.
The award is voted on by the players on the team so they clearly feel the veteran quarterback was a big presence in the locker room.
The Jets ended up activating Aaron Rodgers from injured reserve which marked the next step in an unprecedented recovery effort from the 40-year-old quarterback. However, he never touched the field as the team continued to falter in the standings with each game loss.

New York was eliminated from playoff contention thanks to its 30-0 shutout loss to the Dolphins.
Rodgers had reportedly been eyeing a historic return on Christmas Eve when the Jets hosted the Commanders in Week 16, but even he has repeatedly admitted on “The Pat McAfee Show” that New York’s playoff hopes would affect his availability.
Rodgers has already been cleared for jogging and other things so there is no question he will be ready for the 2024 season.
