Sean Payton and what he said about Nathaniel Hackett came back to bite him in the butt.
Hackett, the Broncos’ head coach last year and New York Jets offensive coordinator this year, downplayed this matchup but his players certainly wanted to win for him. In a training camp interview with USA TODAY, Payton said last year’s Broncos were victimized by “one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL.” The coach was Hackett.
Before the game, Jets tight end C.J. Uzomah gave an impassioned pre-game speech to his offense, saying “Their coach made this personal. Well, (bleep) him and (bleep) them. Let’s go win this (bleep) for Hackett.”
The Jets would go on to win this game and Aaron Rodgers, who fired back at Payton, jumped on X with something to say.
Rodgers wrote, “W” while mentioning Hackett.
Gang Green pulled out a thrilling 31-21 victory over the Broncos. The victory moved the Jets to 2-3 and kept them off life support.
