A QB-needy NFC team has reportedly reached out to the Green Bay Packers about the possibility of trading for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Speaking on ESPN’s “NFL Live” (h/t Dov Kleiman), Adam Schefter reported that the Carolina Panthers have inquired with the Packers about trading for the four-time league MVP and future Hall of Famer.
Rodgers has been the subject of trade rumors since the Packers lost a must-win game vs. the Detroit Lions in Week 18 which ended their playoff hopes. Last week, Rodgers completed a “Darkness Retreat”, which he explained would hopefully help him make a decision on his future.
The 39-year-old Rodgers hasn’t yet committed to playing football in 2023. Even if he comes back for another year, there’s a chance Rodgers and Packers management will decide that now is the time to part ways.
Carolina has lacked a quality quarterback option since Cam Newton’s last healthy and productive year in 2017. The likes of Kyle Allen, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold, P.J. Walker and Baker Mayfield weren’t able to solve Carolina’s struggles at quarterback.
Despite problems at football’s most important position, the Panthers won seven games in 2022 and missed out on the NFC South division crown by just one game. Without a doubt, a guy like Rodgers would make them the heavy favorites to win the division.

But first thing’s first: Rodgers has to commit to playing in 2023 before teams dream of a potential trade for the legendary quarterback.
