It appears Aaron Rodgers might really be leaving the Green Bay Packers this year as the quarterback is reported to have held talks with the team most heavily linked with a trade.
Rodgers indicated his time with the Packers might be over after the team’s season ended and it’s said that Green Bay is finally open to moving on from the player they drafted in 2005.
According to Trey Wingo, the QB has spoken with the New York Jets on Monday over a potential move, though nothing is imminent.
“Per sources. Aaron Rodgers and the Jets had conversations today,” Wingo tweeted in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. “While nothing is imminent Rodgers is open to the idea of going to NY.”
The jets, who hosted Derek Carr, missed out on the former Raiders signal-caller because they wanted to wait on a decision from Rodgers. Carr wasn’t keen on waiting and has since agreed to join the New Orleans Saints.
Should the Jets fail to acquire Rodgers, their front office will come under heavy criticism, although Jimmy Garoppolo might still be an option.

Earlier this week, Rich Eisen claimed to have heard that the Packers are hoping Rodgers either retires or asks to be traded. While they’re keen on parting ways with the player, they don’t want to be the ones to initiate a split and would require 100 percent commitment in the offseason should he opt to stay.
