The New York Jets have a quarterback issue that they’re hoping to resolve this offseason. And it appears as though their owner Woody Johnson knows just the man to fix it.
According to ESPN, Johnson made it very clear to Dianna Russini on the NFL Honors red carpet that his team has every intention to go after Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
In an effort to avoid any tampering accusations, Johnson had the following to say to Russini, via ESPN:
“You want the best quarterback you can get to lead the Jets” and “I can’t really talk about [Rodgers]” but that “everybody recognizes talent.”
As ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler points out, it’s quite clear that Johnson is intrigued by the thought of bringing in Aaron Rodgers. Unfortunately for him, Rodgers has previously made it known to his agent that he prefers the Las Vegas Raiders over the Jets.

Fowler also mentions Derek Carr as a very real possibility for the Jets, although he’s quick to point out that he doesn’t get the sense that the team will go “all-in” for the Raiders quarterback.
As a result, I don’t get the sense the Jets are all-in on Carr . Based on asking around, the sense is Carr is No. 2 on their list.
Whether it’s Rodgers or Carr or someone else, one thing remains certain; the Jets have no plans of moving forward with Zach Wilson as their starting quarterback in 2023.
The Jets’ players have also made it clear that they don’t see Wilson as their quarterback of the future. Whether that means the Jets look to trade him, or keep him around in hopes of developing the former second-overall pick remains to be seen.
