New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers insists he isn’t worried about reinjuring his Achilles following the team opening a practice window to get him up to speed.
Rodgers is keen on a miraculous comeback after tearing said tendon during his NY debut. It’s rumored that he could be back for Week 16, whether or not the Jets are in contention for the playoffs.
Of course, it would be natural to have concerns over a player returning that soon after Achilles surgery. It’s never been done before.
But Rodgers has attempted to allay fears over possibly getting hurt again, pointing out that things can’t get much worse.
“A lot of people,” he said in quotes cited by Antwan Staley of the New York Daily News. “My thing is, what’s the worst that can happen? Something unfortunate again and you just slow the rehab down.”
The QB also claimed there isn’t a disadvantage to returning too soon as he would have to embark on a six-month rehabilitation period should he suffer any setbacks.

“I think if you take the rehab slower and a little bit more deliberate, five months, six months max is probably the length to get back to 100% if you really take it slow,” he added. “In my opinion, there isn’t a downside of coming back and reinjuring it.”
Despite the unprecedented progress, Rodgers actually returning to play this season is thought to be a pipe dream. Still, it’s one of the most intriguing stories in the NFL.
