It’s way too early to know for sure, but maybe…just maybe…Aaron Rodgers could be the perfect person to help Zach Wilson get his career back on track.
When the Jets traded for Rodgers this offseason, many thought it would mark the end of Wilson’s chances at being the starting quarterback in New York. However, the Jets front office and head coach Robert Saleh have stuck to their plan to have Wilson learn behind a veteran superstar like A-Rod.
And based on Wilson’s latest showing at the Hall of Fame Game, it may actually be working.
One of the game’s top highlights was Zach Wilson hitting Jets wide receiver Malik Taylor for a 57-yard gain. And based on some recently released footage from this year’s season of HBO’s “Hard Knocks,” it was Aaron Rodgers who dialed up that perfect play for his backup quarterback.
In the video, which HBO released as a sneak peak for this season, Aaron Rodgers can be heard on the sideline saying, “I’m ready for a bomb. Throw it up to Malik. Touchdown.”
And wouldn’t you know it? Wilson listened to his new mentor and hit Malik Taylor for the huge gain.

Just how he drew it up!
Wilson certainly has the skills. If he can continue to listen to Rodgers and learn from the four-time NFL MVP, who knows? He could still live up to those lofty expectations that were placed on him when he was taken second overall in 2021.
