Aaron Rodgers has revealed how he felt after learning that the Green Bay Packers drafted Jordan Love in 2020.
The New York Jets quarterback was the subject of a huge story this Wednesday, with The Athletic detailing his departure from Green Bay in a tell-all piece that also disclosed he tried getting GM Brian Gutekunst fired in 2021.
As it pertains to the draft the year before, Rodgers said his agent Dave Dunne texted him “QB” when the Packers selected Love and he immediately canceled a scheduled appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“That’s when I went and poured myself a little glass of Añejo and waited for somebody to call me,” the veteran signal-caller said.
Rodgers noted that everyone in the front office signed off on Love despite knowing how he would feel about it.
“I had friends who said, ‘Hey, Matt looked super excited when they made the draft pick,’” he added. “And I said, ‘I don’t care, honestly.’ Like, they made the pick. They all signed off on it.”

The 2020 draft put the first dent in the relationship between Rodgers and the organization. Surprisingly, he stayed put until this year, when he was traded to the Jets.
The Athletic’s report revealed that the player contacted the team through his agent to demand that they either fire Gutekunst or trade him. They did neither. But he’s now set to lead the Jets on their hunt for what would be their first Super Bowl in 55 years.
