New York Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers has clearly put the work in this offseason.
The Proactive Sports Performance Instagram page posted a photo of the 39-year-old Rodgers performing bench lunges with dumbbells in both hands. As you can see in the photo, Rodgers has kept himself in superb shape this offseason:
Rodgers contemplated retirement this offseason, even going into a “darkness retreat” for several days. Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers ultimately agreed to part ways, and he was traded to the Jets ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Rodgers’ trade to the Jets fittingly came 15 years after the Packers traded another former MVP and Super Bowl-winning QB, Brett Favre, to the AFC East club. Favre’s one-year stint with the Jets was underwhelming, to say the least.
But the Jets, who haven’t qualified for the postseason since 2010, have gone great lengths to ensure that things go better with Rodgers than they did with Favre. They brought in several of his former Green Bay teammates, including wide receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb.
Rodgers is also reuniting with Jets’ OC Nathaniel Hackett, who served as the Packers’ offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2021. Rodgers won back-to-back MVP awards in 2020 and 2021 with Hackett serving as the OC.
