New York Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers has agreed to adjust his contract that features a mammoth pay cut.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Rodgers signed a new two-year deal with the Jets worth $75 million. His previous deal had $110 million in guaranteed money on the deal, so the four-time league MVP is agreeing to a monstrous $35 million pay cut on the revised contract.
Pelissero added that Rodgers’ deal is for five years with two option years. The contract also includes no-tag and no-trade clauses.
Last year, Rodgers and the Packers agreed to a giant three-year contract extension worth $150 million. But after a disappointing season that saw Green Bay finish 8-9, Rodgers contemplated retirement and even put himself in a darkness retreat as he mulled over his future.

Rodgers and the Packers ultimately agreed to part ways this offseason, and he was traded to the Jets ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft. With A-Rod out of town the Packers are now committed to 2020 first-rounder Jordan Love, who has one NFL start under his belt.
The 39-year-old Rodgers (40 in December) joins a Jets team that owns the longest active playoff drought, having last qualified in the 2010 season. With three different starting QBs last year, the Jets salvaged a respectable 7-10 record.
Rodgers will make his New York debut in a home tilt against the Buffalo Bills on “Monday Night Football” on Sept. 11.
