The New York Jets coaching staff are going to hate themselves over this for months to come.
An MRI on Tuesday confirmed that Rodgers sustained a torn Achilles in the New York Jets’ 22-16 overtime win against the Buffalo Bills, but it seems this all could’ve been avoided.
According to Zack Rosenblatt and Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Rodgers reportedly complained to the Jets that he didn’t like play calls that involved cut-blocks by the offensive tackles because they kept him from extending plays and had to get rid of the ball quickly as a result.
His complaints were right because one of those plays caused his season-ending injury. The Jets used cut blocks twice on four plays Rodgers had with the Jets.
His Achilles injury came after left tackle Duane Brown failed to stop Bills pass rusher Leonard Floyd.

Rodgers lasted just four plays in Monday night’s season opener at MetLife Stadium. Despite his injury, he attempted to stand up, but quickly sat back down on the turf while looking over to the sidelines.
The team’s training staff ran out, and helped him off the field and into the medical tent. A cart came and picked him up soon after. The team initially said Rodgers was dealing with an ankle injury, but head coach Robert Saleh said after the game that they feared it was his Achilles. An MRI confirmed that much the next day.
The Jets landed Rodgers in a trade with the Green Bay Packers this past offseason, which had expectations through the roof. The team had hopes for the playoffs and possibly a Super Bowl appearance.
Now, though, it’s fair to wonder about his future in the league at all.
