Aaron Rodgers has revealed exactly what happened to him during training this week following reports of a potentially worrying injury ahead of next season.
The veteran quarterback joined the New York Jets by way of an offseason trade this year, with the team staking their immediate future on him. They would absolutely hate it if he gets hurt and can’t start the first game of the season, but that isn’t expected to be the case.
Rodgers was reported to have suffered an injury during Tuesday’s OTAs, prompting some concern from fans. It was later revealed that the 39-year-old had hurt his calf. The player confirmed as much to reporters himself.
“I just tweaked my calf in the pre-practice conditioning, so I decided to take a vet day,” he explained. “I don’t think it’s too serious.”
While Rodgers has been around for a while, he had never gone through the pre-practice routine the Jets employ, which includes medicine balls and pulling sleds.
“I haven’t done it before,” he revealed. “I haven’t done it in 18 years. So but obviously there’s some science behind it.”

Keeping Rodgers healthy will be a priority for NY, but things haven’t gotten off to a great start as he’s already managed to hurt something. Fortunately, the injury isn’t one that will keep him out for more than a few days – at least that’s how it looks for now.
