Aaron Rodgers reportedly has concluded his darkness retreat and now everybody awaits his decision that is sure to shake up the league.
If Rodgers chooses to play for another team, he could still have a say so to where he goes despite not having a ‘no-trade clause in his contract.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Rodgers essentially has enough leverage through his current deal because he could choose to retire instead of heading to a team that he does not want to go to.
The quarterback has yet to speak or be seen in public since leaving the retreat. The Packers don’t want to pressure Rodgers but reportedly are expecting an answer before the start of free agency in a couple of weeks.
Rodgers is still under contract with the Green Bay Packers but is set to make almost $60 million this upcoming season. That would be a ton of money to leave on the table to head off into retirement.
It will be hard to move him as the Packers will have to convince a team to part ways with tons of capital for a man who may play just one more year before hanging it up. No team wants that.
