For once, it would be nice if the Green Bay Packers just sucked it up and got Aaron Rodgers a wide receiver in the first round of the draft.
The last time they took that leap was in 2002, when they selected Javon Walker with the 20th overall pick. It felt like they would break their run of avoiding first round wideouts in 2022, after they traded away Davante Adams for a bundle of draft picks this offseason. They had two first rounders this time around, but they used them on a couple of defensive players from Georgia, in linebacker Quay Walker and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt.
It was hard for the Packers to take a wideout when their pick came around, as there was a big run at the position prior to their 22nd pick. They did, however, have enough artillery to move up and get their guy… Someone like, say, Arkansas’ Treylon Burks?
According to Aaron Rodgers’ close friend, Pat McAfee, the Green Bay quarterback was hoping his team would add Burks. But once again, the Packers’ front office let the reigning MVP down.
Of course, Burks went to the Tennessee Titans in the no. 18 spot, four picks before the Packers took Walker. The Titans got that pick after trading away a star wideout of their own in A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The good news for Rodgers and the Packers’ fans is that they finally added a wide receiver when they moved up in the second round to take North Dakota State standout Christian Watson with the 34th overall pick.
