New York Jets Quarterback Aaron Rodgers predicted teammate Randall Cobb would be hit with a significant fine and ended up being correct.
The NFL recently announced that Cobb will be fined nearly $14,000 for his late hit on New York Giants Defensive Back Bobby McClain. The fine comes as the result of a blindside block on the defender after a teammate caught a pass. Funny enough, teammate Rodgers predicted it in a video.
Rodgers is heard telling Cobb that he “Lost all of his training camp money” and this “isn’t 2014”. Though it came with a laugh, the late hit in a preseason game came off as unnecessary, but thankfully McClain was fine after the hit.
The hit also caused controversy after McClain’s teammate got into an altercation with Rodgers, who presumed the laughter afterward was directed at his fallen teammate. Rodgers would later say that perceived laughter was the player making stuff up.
The Jets begin their season on Monday, September 11 against the Buffalo Bills. Rodgers and Cobb will hope to bring a Super Bowl back to the starved franchise.
