Aaron Rodgers has always been more than just a player. He’s an enigma. Netflix’s new docu-series, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, dives deep into the New York Jets quarterback’s life—and it’s a rollercoaster of revelations. From his fallout with the Green Bay Packers to his estranged family relationships, Rodgers leaves no stone unturned.
Here are the most unforgettable moments from the series.
The Packers Fallout: Tequila and Turmoil
Aaron Rodgers’s exit from the Green Bay Packers is one of the most talked-about stories in the NFL. The series unpacks the drama, starting with the 2020 NFL Draft when the Packers traded up to select quarterback Jordan Love. Rodgers reveals that he wasn’t informed about the decision beforehand, leading to a moment of disbelief.
“I looked down at my phone, and my agent just texted me: ‘Quarterback.’ And I was like, ‘No f–king way,’” Rodgers recalls. “Then the pick happens, and I immediately got off the couch, poured myself some tequila, and went back to the couch knowing there would be some interesting conversations ahead.”
While Rodgers maintains kind words for Love, the incident clearly stung. It marked the beginning of the end of his relationship with the Packers.
Estranged From His Family: A Rift Without Resentment
Aaron Rodgers opens up about his strained relationship with his family, shedding light on years of speculation. He admits to being estranged from his parents, Ed and Darla, and his brothers, Luke and Jordan, but insists he harbors no ill will.

“I grew up in a very white, dogmatic church, and that just really didn’t serve me,” Rodgers explains. “It was very rigid in structure; I’m not a rigid person.”
Although Rodgers doesn’t confirm specific reasons for the estrangement, the series hints that his alternative lifestyle and unconventional interests may have created a divide. Despite this, Rodgers remains hopeful for reconciliation.

The Bachelorette Drama: Empty Chairs and Open Wounds
In 2016, Rodgers’s younger brother Jordan starred on The Bachelorette and eventually won the show, marrying JoJo Fletcher in 2022. However, the family episode of the show didn’t sit well with Rodgers.
“They go on a bull—- show and leave two empty chairs,” Rodgers says in the documentary. “They all agreed this was a good thing to do, to leave two empty chairs on a stupid dating show that my brother went on just to get famous. His words, not mine.”
Aaron Rodgers also revealed that he wasn’t invited to a family dinner featured in the show. “A dinner during the season, I was never asked to go to. Not that I would’ve gone,” he admits.
Relationships Under the Spotlight: No Love for the Public Eye
Rodgers’s love life has always been a hot topic, and the documentary doesn’t shy away from addressing it. He reflects on his relationships with high-profile women like Olivia Munn, Danica Patrick, and Shailene Woodley, acknowledging the challenges of dating in the public eye.
“I didn’t do myself any favors with some of the girls I dated after that who were in the public eye,” Rodgers says. “I definitely hated it at first—like, really despised it. I enjoyed my private life. I enjoyed being able to go places. But from Super Bowl MVP, MVP, State Farm commercials, that got a little bit more difficult.”
Rodgers dated Munn from 2014 to 2017, Patrick from 2018 to 2020, and began dating Woodley in 2020. He even got engaged to Woodley but called off the engagement a few months later. While he doesn’t dive into specific details, his tone suggests those relationships came with their fair share of challenges.
Plant Medicine and Identity Crises: Searching for Meaning
Aaron Rodgers doesn’t shy away from discussing his offbeat interests and personal struggles. He touches on his use of plant medicine and how it helped him navigate an identity crisis. While he doesn’t elaborate extensively, the series frames this as part of his journey to self-discovery and growth.
