Aaron Rodgers has revealed how he’s been able to fast-track his recovery after suffering a ruptured Achilles last month.
The veteran quarterback sustained the devastating injury on just the fourth drive of his debut for the New York Jets and was expected to be out for the entirety of his first season with the team. However, we just might see him return at some point in 2023 given his remarkable recovery thus far.
Rodgers went viral on Sunday as a video showed him warming up and throwing a football while his crutches were nowhere to be seen.
He discussed the above during his appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Tuesday, claiming it was always his intention to be able to walk and throw a football by October 15.
“We’re about five weeks since surgery, five weeks since the injury. The first goal was to get back on the field for the October first game, I was hoping without crutches, I wasn’t anywhere close to getting off of them, and then the next goal was to be able to throw on the field on the 15th,” he explained.

As for how he was able to do it, the QB credited his own willpower and a new innovative surgery that he asked to be pushed beyond typical protocols.
“I believe in the power of intention, the power of your mind…and willpower,” he continued, “basically this entire I’ve kind of said this is what I’d like to do rehab wise…my doctor Neal ElAttrache did kind of a newer innovative surgery and I asked him if we could push it beyond the normal protocols…Cam Akers had the same surgery and he was able to come back within five months.”
Whether or not Rodgers will be ready to play before the end of the regular season remains to be seen. But what we’ve seen so far is nothing short of incredible.
