New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Thursday that surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon in his left leg “went great.” He took to social media and posted himself smiling while in his hospital bed.
The New York Jets quarterback and future Hall of Famer suffered a season-ending Achilles tear on the fourth snap of his first season with his new team.
What’s next for Rodgers, other than recovering, remains to be seen.
However, a doctor on social media is now pointing to another player who had the same injury and how he recovered fairly quickly from it. He also added what percentage of a player Rodgers’ will be once he returns.
“Dr. ElAttrache performed Cam Akers’ Achilles reconstruction in 2021 and he returned in record time (just under 6 months).
That return is unrealistic, but I think there’s a very good chance Rodgers will be about 95% the same player as entering 2023 as he enters 2024.”

Rodgers tore his Achilles on the fourth play of his New York Jets career on Monday night, ending a season that saw the Jets widely hyped as Super Bowl contenders with the addition of the four-time MVP.
In his absence on the field, the Jets plan to stick with Zach Wilson who will do his best to take the reins for the Jets.
The quarterback has discussed retirement in the past, but he seemed to quash that talk Wednesday by posting “I shall rise yet again” on Instagram. Both Jets head coach Robert Saleh and medical experts agree that Rodgers’ injury doesn’t have to be a career-ender.
For now, he will focus on getting back on his feet and get ready for the 2024 season.
