In the wake of New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffering a devastating torn Achilles in Monday’s season opener, many players have called for the NFL to install grass at each stadium as opposed to artificial turf.
Now, a doctor is explaining why that may be the best thing going forward for all players.
Jesse Morse explained on X that Lionel Messi has successfully been able to get every stadium he has played in to switch from turf to grass. If they refuse, he will not play there.
Morse then went on to explain the differences between turf and grass and why Rodgers suffered his injury that will have him out for the season.
After an MRI confirmed that Rodgers’ season was over, Jets cornerback D.J. Reed said on social media that there should be grass at every stadium.

Packers offensive lineman David Bakhtiari, who spent 10 seasons as Rodgers’ teammate in Green Bay, immediately pointed out that he thought that the turf was to blame for Rodgers’ injury.
The turf issue at MetLife Stadium specifically has been a nightmare over the past few years. Multiple teams have complained about the turf, including the 49ers, who watched five different players get injured during a 2020 game against the Jets.
Prior to the 2023 season, new turf was put down at MetLife Stadium. It still did not matter.
The Monday night game between the Bills and Jets was just the second regular-season game played on the new turf. The first game was the night before when the Dallas Cowboys destroyed the New York Giants, 40-0.
Although there weren’t any major injuries in that game, the Rodgers injury could lead the NFL to take a closer look at the new turf.
