Before and after they acquired Aaron Rodgers from the Packers in a blockbuster trade, the New York Jets’ front office went great lengths to bring in some of his former Green Bay teammates.
It started in the early stages of free agency when the Jets signed standout wideout Allen Lazard, Rodgers’ top receiver last year in Green Bay. After acquiring Rodgers, the Jets also signed veteran receiver Randall Cobb and safety Adrian Amos.
As previously noted, there’s speculation going around that Rodgers could take another pay cut to help the Jets trade for All-Pro offensive tackle David Bakhtiari, A-Rod’s teammate of 10 years in Titletown.
Well, Rodgers himself fueled the Bakhtiari-to-Jets rumor by posting this photo on his Instagram story, as noted by @uStadium. Look closely and you’ll see that Bakhtiari was tagged in Rodgers’ photo of himself with wideout Garrett Wilson:
Bakhtiari was unquestionably the best offensive lineman Rodgers ever had in Green Bay. The 31-year-old has been named to three Pro Bowls and was named a First-team All-Pro in 2018 and 2020. On top of that, he was a Second-team All-Pro selection in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

The Jets are relying on the oft-injured Mekhi Becton (one game played since 2021) and 38-year-old Duane Brown to be their starting offensive tackles. Surely, Rodgers would be thrilled if the Jets went with a more reliable option like Bakhtiari.
That is, of course, if the Packers are willing to trade their top offensive lineman. And if the Jets would actually explore adding yet another ex-Packer to their roster.
