Green Bay Packers signal-caller Aaron Rodgers has yet to make a call on his playing future, but the four-time MVP plans to try a unique isolation exercise that will hopefully help influence his decision very soon.
Rodgers and the Packers were eliminated from playoff contention with a heartbreaking Week 18 home loss to the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field. Fast forward a month later, and the football world continues to anxiously await his decision.
During his latest appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”, Rodgers explained that he’s going into a four-day “isolation retreat” inside a small house.
“It’s four nights of complete darkness….it’s a darkness retreat. I’ve had a number of friends who’ve done it and had some profound experiences. It’s something that’s been on my radar for a few years now…it’s coming up in a couple of weeks.”
Rodgers sought a trade from the Packers two offseasons ago, but he agreed to return to the organization in 2021. After winning his second straight MVP award, Rodgers agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $150.8 million.
But after missing the playoffs in 2022, there is growing speculation that the Packers and Rodgers may end up parting ways. The organization had no problem moving on from Brett Favre in favor of Rodgers back in 2008, and that obviously worked out just fine for them.

The Packers traded up to select Rodgers’ successor, Jordan Love, back in the 2020 Draft. If Green Bay’s front office and coaches think Love is ready, then trading Rodgers is undoubtedly the only option for both parties.
Of course, this all becomes a moot point if the 39-year-old Rodgers ends up walking away from the game of football altogether. We’ll just have to wait patiently for his decision announcement, which will hopefully come sooner rather than later.
