Aaron Rodgers won’t use his injured thumb as an excuse for why he and his team have struggled thus far in 2022 en route to a 4-7 record.
The Green Bay Packers quarterback made those comments during his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show while basically confirming that his thumb is broken.
The injury to his thumb occurred near the end of the Packers’ 27-22 loss to the New York Giants in London last month. Green Bay went 3-1 before that game but has gone 1-6 ever since. It’s an injury that really makes you think.
Rodgers won the NFL MVP award in 2020 and 2021 and the Packers were a franchise that entered this season as winners of 13 games in each of their last three seasons.
The veteran QB has looked nothing like he did in the past. Through 11 games in 2022, Rodgers has completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 6.8 yards per attempt, which is his lowest mark since 2015. He also has 19 touchdowns and seven picks. His 231.1 passing yards per game are his lowest since becoming the Packers’ starter in 2008.

His thumb can be blamed as well as the team trading away WR Davante Adams to the Raiders this offseason. That trade did not help either team.
After a 27-17 loss to the Tennessee Titans, all seemed lost in the season, but the team has an outside chance to make the playoffs. They’ll look to get back on track Sunday evening at the 9-1 Philadelphia Eagles.
