New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has clarified his comments after a hot mic caught him claiming he will be playing again in “a few weeks.”
Rodgers, who was seen dropping back and throwing some deep passes ahead of his team’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night, embraced safety Derwin James after the defeat and was asked when he’s coming back.
“Give me a few weeks,” he replied.
Rodgers has since explained that this was mostly said in jest and that it’s “unrealistic” to expect that he can make a comeback from an Achilles injury this soon.
Making his usual Tuesday appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show,” the veteran QB said he has a great relationship with Derwin and they share the same agency. He added that he had no idea what he said would be picked up and was only goofing off.

Asked for a specific timeline, he said he should be good in “a few fortnights” as opposed to a few weeks. McAfee’s math worked that out to sometime in December, which would still be very impressive should it turn out to be the case.
