Following the Green Bay Packers blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game, Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was asked about his 2019 season and how he viewed it.
His answer seemed problematic because it appeared he took a shot a former Packers and current Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.
“This one will always be special because (playing football) became fun again.”
It’s a miracle that Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy lasted for nearly 13 years together in Green Bay, because it seemed they had serious issues that dated back to 2005.
That was uncovered in an eye-opening piece on Bleacher Report where multiple players and team employees painted an ugly picture of what went on behind the scenes.
McCarthy was the offensive coordinator for the 49ers when they passed on selecting Rodgers for Alex Smith. One year after the draft, McCarthy would be hired as the coach in Green Bay.

Rodgers never forgave McCarthy for passing on him, according to former Packers running back Ryan Grant.
“Aaron’s always had a chip on his shoulder with Mike,” Grant told Bleacher Report. “The guy who ended up becoming your coach passed on you when he had a chance. Aaron was upset that Mike passed on him — that Mike actually verbally said that Alex Smith was a better quarterback.”
After losing to the 49ers on Sunday, Rodgers likely wasn’t happy yet again to miss out getting back to the Super Bowl, somewhere he hasn’t returned since lifting the Lombardi Trophy in 2010.
