On Friday, Netflix released a compelling trailer for the upcoming documentary series, Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, which is about the former New England Patriots tight end.
“From the studio that brought you Making a Murderer and Evil Genius, witness the rise and fall of the infamous athlete Aaron Hernandez,” reads the trailer’s caption.
“How can someone who had everything throw it all away?”
The former all-pro and Connecticut native was selected by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft, where he paired alongside Rob Gronkowski across three seasons. He would be released from the team in June 2013 after he was charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd. He was ultimately found guilty of 1st-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
He would soon face another murder trial in 2017, but would be found not guilty in April 2017. Just days later, Hernandez was found dead by suicide after hanging himself at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Massachusetts.
Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez premieres Jan. 15.
