A massive trade proposal has the Los Angeles Rams sending franchise star Aaron Donald to one of the top NFC powerhouses.
The Rams haven’t fully committed to a rebuild, but they traded away one of their “core four” pieces in All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey earlier this offseason. The future Hall of Famer was traded to the Miami Dolphins in a blockbuster deal, leaving the Rams with Donald, quarterback Matthew Stafford and wideout Cooper Kupp as their remaining core pieces.
But what if the Rams got an offer for Donald that they wouldn’t be able to refuse?
Bleacher Report’s Alex Ballentine proposed a blockbuster trade that has the Rams sending Donald to the reigning NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for 2024 first and second-round draft picks:
“Adding a player of his caliber to a defense that already reached the Super Bowl last year could push this group over the top in 2023.
The move might look a tad redundant on paper due to the presence of players like Fletcher Cox and Jordan Davis, but Donald’s presence would make this defensive line near-unstoppable. He’d also be the perfect player to bridge the gap between the aging veterans and the team’s next wave of defensive line stars like first-round rookie Jalen Carter and 2021 third-rounder Milton Williams.
The Eagles would likely have to send over at least a first-round pick and possibly more to pry Donald away from the only franchise he’s ever played for, but the move would be worth it.”
After helping the Rams to a Super Bowl 56 championship, Donald was rewarded with a new three-year extension worth $95 million.

Donald considered retiring after the Rams’ Super Bowl victory, but the three-time Defensive Player of the Year and future Hall of Famer ultimately decided to pursue another ring with the NFC West club.
If the Rams are out of the playoff picture leading up to the trade deadline, they could absolutely shop Donald. And a team in win-now mode like the Eagles would give Donald the perfect opportunity to win a second championship.
Donald and the Rams will open their 2023 season with a road contest against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 10.
