The Alliance of American Football League seems to be doing just about everything right after their first weekend that produced a multitude of viewers.
The biggest name in the National Football League that hasn’t actually played in the league since 2016 is easily Colin Kaepernick as he continues to battle with the league on being blackballed following a year of controversy on his kneeling during the National Anthem.
In comes the AAF.
League co-founder Bill Polian told Lindsay Jones of The Athletic that CEO Charlie Ebersol reached out to the former San Francisco 49ers QB to see if he would be interested in playing.
“I don’t know what transpired, but he’s obviously not playing,” Polian said Thursday.
According to the Associated Press, Kaepernick wanted $20M or more to consider playing with the new up-start league.
Kaepernick has received little interest from teams since opting out of his contract with the 49ers. His best friend Eric Reid, who kneeled alongside him in 2016, just received a 3-year extension from the Carolina Panthers after they signed him during Week 4 of the 2018 season.
