The Tennessee Titans’ receiving corps took a massive hit after they shocked everybody with the sudden trade of A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles for the No. 18 and 101 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Brown wanted a new deal from the Titans, but the two sides could not come to terms on rightful compensation. In an interview with ESPN, Brown said the Titans’ offer topped out at $16 million per season.
When the A.J. Brown trade was announced on NFL Network, live shots came in from the Titans draft room and they showed a disgusted head coach Mike Vrabel getting out of his chair, shaking his head, and walking away before turning back around.
Vrabel said he was “comfortable” with how this situation played out.
“I love A.J. personally, but I am very comfortable with how this went down and how Jon and I were able to navigate,” Vrabel said, via ESPN. “I try to support him and make decisions. Unfortunately, we understand if we are going to be here a while, we are not going to be able to keep every single player that we draft and develop.”
The Titans would go on to draft Arkansas wide receiver, Treylon Burks. Hopefully, he can be everything Brown was to that Titans offense, or 2022 is going to be a tough year.
