San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel dropped a major hint about his next team during Super Bowl week, no less.
The 29-year-old Deebo Samuel is heading into the last season of a three-year, $71.5 million contract he signed in 2022. But with a major cap crunch looming, and with Samuel coming off a disappointing season, some wonder if he’ll get traded or released by GM John Lynch.
Samuel also made headlines back in December when he wrote (then deleted) on X/Twitter that he wasn’t “struggling at all,” and that he just wasn’t “getting the ball.” With 2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall and breakout star Jauan Jennings ready for bigger roles, it simply makes too much sense for the 49ers to give Samuel a fresh start.
Elliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP shared an image of Deebo Samuel attending Super Bowl week in New Orleans with an A.J. Brown-Philadelphia Eagles jersey. Naturally, its’ easy to speculate that the 2021 All-Pro wants to join the NFC champs in the offseason:

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman certainly isn’t afraid to make blockbuster moves for big-named stars, including the aforementioned Brown, Saquon Barkley, C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Darius Slay.
So if Samuel became available, the Eagles would definitely be a fascinating fit for the 2019 second-round pick. Working with Barkley, Brown, Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith, Samuel would add another element to this offense.

Deebo Samuel Had A Frustrating 2024 Season
The 49ers were by far the NFL’s most disappointing team in 2024, finishing last in the NFC West (6-11) after reaching the Super Bowl last year. Samuel was among several 49ers stars who played below their usual standards, tallying just 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns to go along with 136 rushing yards and a rushing score.
