A viral photo of Trey Lance, Patrick Mahomes and UCLA freshman quarterback Dante Moore is going viral.
Moore posted a photo of him with the San Francisco 49ers’ QB and the Kansas City Chiefs’ superstar on his Instagram page. But the photo isn’t just going viral because it features two big-named NFL quarterbacks and a five-star quarterback recruit.

The big story here should be that Moore is enjoying the luxury of working alongside Lance and the world’s best football player in Mahomes. But plenty of fans couldn’t help but instead point out Lance’s hairline.

Two years ago, the 49ers gave up a bundle of picks to the Miami Dolphins so they could move up to the No. 3 spot in the draft. There was plenty of speculation that they would take Alabama quarterback Mac Jones, but GM John Lynch instead took the North Dakota State quarterback.
Lance started two games in 2021, but it was veteran Jimmy Garoppolo who spent most of the year running the offense. Lance opened 2022 as the starter but suffered a season-ending ankle injury against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2.
11 weeks later, Garoppolo suffered a foot injury that ended his season. The 49ers then went with third-stringer Brock Purdy, who won all five regular season starts en route to helping San Fran reach the NFC Championship Game.
Lance and Purdy will compete for the starting quarterback job in the Bay Area this offseason.
