Despite spending some time as division foes before the NFL realigned the NFC West, the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints wouldn’t be looked at as rivals on the field. If the two squads can have a couple more games like they had during Week 14 last season, they could certainly change.
On Thursday, the person running the 49ers social media account took a savage shot at the Saints in a post that was meant to remind fans to wear masks during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The video shows the crucial facemask penalty that Saints defensive back Marcus Williams committed on tight end George Kittle in the final moments of Week 14.
Kittle caught a 39-yard pass that took him to the Saints 28-yard line with just seconds to play. Williams’ facemask penalty moved the play up another 15 yards, turning a tough 45-yard field goal into a 30-yard chip shot for 49ers kicker Robbie Gould.
Gould knocked it down as time expired.
