Welcome to the NFL, rookies.
San Francisco 49ers’ veterans showed no mercy to the rookie wide receivers by pranking them into paying for a $15,000 dinner bill in Las Vegas (where else?).
On his Instagram story, Isaiah Winstead posted the video of star wide receiver Deebo Samuel holding a dinner tab that cost over $15,000. Apparently, the rookie wideouts were the ones who had to pick up the tab.
Hence the line, “Welcome to the NFL, rookie.” That line is usually delivered to first-year players when they’re dealt a huge hit or surprise of some sort during a game, but 49ers’ rookie pass-catchers learned that the line can go beyond the playing field sometimes.
San Francisco features one of the best pass-catching corps in the league, led by Samuel, speedster Brandon Aiyuk, tight end George Kittle and do-it-all RB Christian McCaffrey.
The 49ers are coming off a 13-win season as well as their third trip to the NFC Championship Game in four years. They’ll open their 2023 season with a road contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 10.
