The San Francisco 49ers have delivered a significant update on Deebo Samuels’ injury status ahead of Sunday’s NFC Title clash vs. the Detroit Lions.
The wide receiver suffered a shoulder injury against the Green Bay Packers last Saturday. He was initially ruled questionable to return before being downgraded to out and missing the entire second half.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed earlier this week that the joint wasn’t fractured, but that the player’s status was still uncertain given the pain he was experiencing.
Shanahan has since revealed that the receiver is off the injury report and will be in action against Detroit this coming Sunday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
This bodes extremely well for the Niners as they could use all the help they can get against a frugal Lions defense.
They struggled to move the ball without Samuel against the Packers last weekend and are only in a position to play for a Super Bowl spot due to some late-game heroics.
