The San Francisco 49ers are headed to the Super Bowl.
The NFC Championship Game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions was incredibly wild as it looked like the lovable Lions were going to do the impossible. Then the second half happened.
The 49ers trailed by 17 points at halftime.
A fumble lost by rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs was a huge turning point in the game. San Francisco’s press box reportedly erupted following a Detroit fumble and that is something that is not allowed in the press box at all.
The people in that press box were informed to not do that as media folks are supposed to be impartial.
“I thought I was working in a press box, but a chunk of 49ers “media” just let out the loudest cheer I’ve ever heard in my dozen years covering NFL football after that fumble,” Justin Rogers of the Detroit News tweeted.

Brock Purdy threw for 267 yards and a touchdown to help the 49ers beat the Lions and reach the Super Bowl to play the Kansas City Chiefs. He also had 48 yards rushing thanks to a pair of 21-yard scrambles.
His biggest play was Purdy’s 51-yard pass that deflected off a defender’s facemask into Aiyuk’s hands helped the Niners rally from 17 points down at halftime to beat the Detroit Lions 34-31 on Sunday and reach the Super Bowl.
Now the last pick of the 2022 draft will be starting in the Super Bowl against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. San Francisco managed to make the long journey back to this stage and now is in a position to deliver the franchise its record-tying sixth Super Bowl title and first since the 1994 season.
