This is absolutely heartbreaking.
Marquise Goodwin missed two games in the regular season in 2018 and not many knew exactly why.
The 49ers receiver and his wife, Morgan, took their personal Youtube channel and revealed on Wednesday that they had lost their twin boys during pregnancy at just 19 weeks.
“They were so bad my water broke,” Morgan said. While the amniotic sac for one of the babies ruptured, the second one remained intact and she had to undergo surgery, she said.
“Baby B was still good but Baby A wasn’t,” Morgan said. “We were going to try to do a delayed delivery, but it didn’t even end up working out because they had made a mistake and ruptured my sac during the surgery, which we knew was a possibility.”
“She didn’t want to, but I think it’ll probably be good for us,” Marquise said. “It helped last time, just moving past it and finding our way. A lot of people reached out, and that was cool. A lot of people sent us things last time. And it just helped to know how much we were loved by either people we’ve come in contact with and even people we haven’t physically met. Just to see how much you guys love and support us, we definitely appreciate that.”
Goodwin would go on to miss the next two weeks after the tragic event as the team stated he was away for personal reasons.
This was deja vu for the couple as they lost a child in pregnancy during the 2017 football season as Morgan delivered their son stillborn again at 19 weeks.
