What does Jerry Rice know about the Brandon Aiyuk situation?
Legendary San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jerry Rice has been buzzing on social media after he took to his account to state that a decision regarding Brandon Aiyuk’s status could be made Wednesday.
Rice posted a photo of Aiyuk on Instagram and included the caption: “I guess we will all find out tomorrow GOATS! Will he stay or leave!”
Rice posting this on Tuesday night means a final conclusion has likely come in the drama between Brandon Aiyuk and the 49ers.
The drama has been occurring all off-season, as the two sides have made little to no progress on reaching an agreement on a contract extension or a trade to send Aiyuk elsewhere.
NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco reported that the San Francisco 49ers had worked out the framework of a trade with the Patriots and Cleveland Browns for Brandon Aiyuk, but the wideout had to accept the extensions from both teams.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have also been mentioned as a potential trade destination for Aiyuk.
The 26-year-old is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract in 2024. Last year, he enjoyed a career season as he set a new career-high with 1,342 receiving yards to go along with seven touchdowns on 75 receptions.
Aiyuk was a huge reason why the 49ers were in the Super Bowl.
Brandon Aiyuk Reportedly Turned Down Patriots Trade
The New England Patriots have reasons to be optimistic about their quarterback future, but Brandon Aiyuk certainly did not feel that way, which led to him rejecting a trade to the team.
The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini reported that Aiyuk turned down a contract offer from the Patriots that would have paid him around $32 million annually because he “doesn’t believe” their quarterback situation is good right now.
Russini added that Aiyuk prefers to play for a team capable of making a playoff run now rather than in the future.
