The San Francisco 49ers may have obverplayed their hands with Jimmy Garoppolo.
Jimmy G was one of the top quarterback options on the market just a few weeks ago, but several teams have since made moves to fix the position and the market is now getting smaller by the week.
Niners insider Tim Kawakam provided a troubling update on the trade market for Garoppolo since the trade of Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns.
“As far as the Jimmy Garoppolo market… shrug emoji right now. Might be time for all sides to do some recalibrating,” he tweeted.
However, the Denver Broncos engineered their blockbuster trade for quarterback Russell Wilson, while the Washington Commanders traded for former Indianapolis Colts signal-caller Carson Wentz. Then the Pittsburgh Steelers shocked everybody by signing former first-round NFL Draft pick, Mitchell Trubisky.
San Francisco’s front office could just release Jimmy G, but given that there were many teams who needed a QB, this would be a massive failure on the team.

The 49ers could also stick with Garoppolo for another year, but just have him ride the bench behind Trey Lance, and step in when things get really bad.
