George Kittle hasn’t lost faith in Brock Purdy following the latter’s stinker against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback had an ugly game as he threw four interceptions in the 33-19 loss, also failing to make a single touchdown pass.
Purdy has had an exemplary campaign up until this week and went into the game as the MVP favorite, so his performance is hardly a reason to return to the drawing board. It’s why Kittle still believes in his QB. And, speaking after the game, he revealed having told the former MVP favorite to “keep slinging it.”
“I just kept telling Brock, ‘Just keep slinging it, man.’ We’re the No. 1 seed in the NFC for a reason: because you sling the ball, you get it to our playmakers in space,” the veteran tight end told reporters.
Kittle also admitted that the Ravens had a “great game plan” for the Niners on Christmas, pointing to the many costly turnovers.
The outing was an abnormal one for Purdy, who became the first San Francisco QB to throw as many INTs in a single game since Colin Kaepernick in 2015. He had only thrown seven of them in 384 passing attempts before Week 16.

“It’s not like the building’s on fire or anything like that,” Kittle noted. “Sometimes the ball doesn’t bounce your way. Lot of tips, a lot of crazy stuff happened… I still think we got a pretty good football team.”
