Daniel Luna is waking up t a different world than he remembered over a month ago when he went to SoFi stadium to watch his favorite team have a chance to play for a Super Bowl berth.
His life changed in an instance when the 40-year-old was brutally beaten in the SoFi Stadium parking lot during the NFC Championship game and was put in a medically induced coma. Five weeks after the incident and he has finally come out of it.
His family released a statement:
“Daniel Luna is now out of a medically induced coma,” the statement read. “He remains in the hospital and is expected to be released sometime this month into rehab. He remains significantly disabled by the attack against him at SoFi Stadium, but is hoping to return to his restaurant someday and return to cooking and all his wonderful customers.”
Luna remains hospitalized, but the hope is he will be able to return home later this month. His current condition was not disclosed, according to CBS LA.
Luna was reportedly wearing a 49ers jersey and black pants when he was found outside of the stadium. A Los Angeles area man has since been charged in the assault of the Oakland chef. Bryan Alexis Cifuentes, 33, has been charged with one felony count of battery with serious bodily injury, according to the report.
