Brock Purdy received some very bad news this week, with reports indicating that he tore the UCL in his throwing elbow during the San Francisco 49ers’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.
Things only got worse as the standout rookie QB will need tommy john surgery to repair his injury. Baseball fans are used to this type of injury with pictures and they know it takes about a year for that player to come back..
Purdy is likely to miss the entire 2023 campaign.
Purdy, the last player drafted in last spring’s NFL Draft, started the season as the 49ers’ third-string option, but was thrust into being the starter after season-ending injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance.
After taking over for Garoppolo, he completed better than 67 percent of his passes and threw 13 touchdowns versus four interceptions.

If the 49ers do not bring Jimmy G back, the team will be looking for a backup QB this off-season.
