The San Francisco 49ers will go as far as Brock Purdy can take them in 2022. The franchise has now suffered through two starting QB’s going down for the year after Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a foot injury that won’t allow him to comeback and play again this season.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken left foot that requires surgery to fix. This is the second season-ending injury to happen to a 49ers quarterback as Trey Lance, who Garoppolo backed up to start the season, fractured his ankle in Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Purdy had to take over on Sunday after barely sniffing the field this year. Purdy finished the game with 210 yards on 25 of 37 with two touchdown passes and one interception thrown
After the game, it became clear he would be making his first start next week against the Tampa Bay Bucs and he gave an awesome quote about playing against Tom Brady.
“He’s been playing football longer than I’ve been alive,” Purdy said of Brady on Sunday night.
For Purdy, he relied heavily on star running back Christian McCaffrey, who had 66 yards on 17 carries and caught eight passes for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Deebo Samuel totaled 56 yards on six catches and Aiyuk recording five receptions for 46 yards.
The team is going to need that type of balanced attack going forward to make things easy for the 49ers’ seventh-round pick out of Iowa State in the 2022 NFL Draft.
