San Francisco 49ers star edge rusher Arik Armstead was displeased with Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff over a “dirty play” on Sunday.
Armstead’s 49ers came into EverBank Stadium and made easy work of a red-hot Jacksonville team, crushing the Jaguars 34-3 to snap a three-game losing skid. Despite the much-needed win, Armstead remained disappointed with Scherff’s actions in the first quarter.
Per Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, Armstead injured his right knee when he tried spinning his way past Scherff. Armstead said that the veteran guard “tripped” and “kicked” him in the knee.
“He tripped me, kicked me in my knee and kind of messed up my day…I didn’t know what happened. I have a lot of respect for him, but tripping me, kicking me in my knee, [I] could have got seriously hurt. It was just a dirty play.”
You can see Armstead describing the moment in the clip below:
Fortunately, Armstead avoided a serious injury and managed to finish the game.

The 49ers’ front seven dismantled the Jaguars’ offensive line from start to finish. Trevor Lawrence and company were held out of the end zone, as the star quarterback took five sacks while throwing two interceptions.
The 49ers started out a perfect 5-0 before dropping three in a row, with the last defeat coming at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals at Levi’s Stadium.
But Kyle Shanahan had his players ready for the Jaguars, who were also on a bye in Week 9. Jacksonville, on the other hand, looked nothing like a six-win team and Super Bowl contender on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Armstead has three sacks this season. His 49ers will try to continue the momentum when they welcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this Sunday.
