Chad Johnson has a solution to the Saints woes.
It was reported Friday that star receiver Michael Thomas is expected to miss the start of the season after undergoing surgery to repair the ligaments in his ankle in June. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport added that the roughly four-month recovery timetable could keep Thomas on the sideline weeks into the season.
The 43-year-old former NFL WR took to Twitter and offered his services to the Saints. In exchange, all he needs is a company car and a place to stay.
“@Saints Here me out, even years removed I’m STILL in better shape than 90% of these earthlings & can play until my guy @Cantguardmike comes back, don’t need money/contract just a company car & place to stay,” Johnson said on Twitter.
With Thomas out to start the 2021 campaign, the Saints currently have Tre’Quan Smith, Marquez Callaway and Deonte Harris atop their receiving corps. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo added that in light of the Thomas news, the Saints have been checking in on available free-agent wide receivers.
Not the best news to have when you are in the midst of a QB battle for the 2021 season.
