It’s no secret that scouts, analysts and fans can often over-analyze the numbers that come out of the NFL combine each year. And perhaps no number is more over-analyzed than the 40-yard dash time.
Every year there’s a receiver or cornerback that rockets up draft boards thanks to a blazing 40-time, only to flop once he gets to the NFL because, as we should all know by now, running fast in a straight line for 40 yards doesn’t always translate into success on the gridiron.
Despite all that, however, there’s still something amazing about seeing one of the big men at the combine rocket down the track and put up a fast 40. And the latest to do that is Georgia defensive lineman Jordan Davis.
At 6-foot-6 and 341-pounds, Davis is one of the biggest men at this year’s combine. And from the looks of it, he’s also one of the most athletic.
How else do you explain such an enormous man putting up an insane time of 4.78 in the 40-yard dash?
While his time was originally listed at 4.82, many later confirmed that they had in fact clocked Jordan Davis at 4.78 seconds.

Davis was already on the radar of most NFL teams, as most mock draft have him going in round one. After that 40-yard dash, however, he could see himself getting selected within the first 10 picks of the 2022 draft.
