It was only his first day with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Julio Jones is already announcing his presence with authority.
During Thursday’s training camp practice, his first with the team since signing a one-year deal, Jones showed off his impressive athleticism at age 33 with a leaping touchdown grab.
Nagging injuries have made Jones miss 14 games over the last two seasons. One year with Tom Brady could bring a resurgence to his career.
Earlier this week, the Bucs signed Jones to a one-year, $6 million deal, adding insurance to a receiving corps that features Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
He missed seven games last season after the Titans dealt two draft picks to acquire him from the Atlanta Falcons. In Tennessee, he registered career lows with 31 receptions for 434 yards and managed just one touchdown reception.
Having been a division rival for the majority of his career, Jones featured in 16 games against Tampa Bay. He caught 114 passes for 1,841 yards and 11 touchdowns.
