If Zach Ertz clears waivers, two Super Bowl contenders will reportedly be in on the three-time Pro Bowl tight end.
On Thursday, the Arizona Cardinals granted Ertz’s request for a fresh start and placed him on waivers. It was actually Ertz’s former teammate, J.J. Watt, who first broke the news on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Bleacher Report NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles are teams to “Keep an eye on” for Ertz if he clears waives. Schultz added that Ertz hopes to play for a championship contender.
The Ravens (9-3) and Eagles (10-1) hold the best record in their respective conferences. And as Schultz noted, both could use a tight end with Baltimore losing Mark Andrews for the season, and with Dallas Goedert still banged up for Philly.
The 33-year-old Ertz played for the Eagles from 2013 until 2021, before getting traded to Arizona midseason. The longtime Eagles fan favorite played a significant role in the club’s Super Bowl 52 championship-winning season, catching the game-winning TD in their thrilling win over the New England Patriots.
Ertz had his best years with the Eagles, surpassing the 800-yard mark five times with the NFC East club. He had a career-high 116 receptions for 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns in the 2018 season.
